Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell “When Love Comes Knocking At My Heart” (From the LP You’re All I Need, 1968)
As you may already know, the majority of the duets that were released by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, were in fact typically overdubs or re-recorded lead vocals of Tammi Terrell solo tracks.
This track started as a Tammi Terrell solo track in 1966 where Tammi was just double tracked on the chorus, and pretty much sounded like a great follow up single to her “Come On And See Me.” But it wasn’t to happen. Unfortunately never lifted as a single solo or as a duet, it so deserved to be a hit.
